Privacy Policy
Pudder is a golf round-tracking app. We designed it with privacy as a default: all your data is stored only on your device unless you explicitly choose to enable optional social features. When social features are off (the default), we do not operate servers, create user accounts, or transmit your personal information to any third party.
If you choose to create a social account within Pudder, certain data is transmitted to our social provider (Stream) as described in Section 2 and Section 8. This is entirely opt-in β core tracking features work fully without any account or cloud connectivity.
Pudder uses your precise GPS location during an active round to record where each shot lands and calculate distances to the green. Location is accessed only while a round is in progress. Your GPS coordinates and shot positions are never uploaded to any server β they remain on your device only, even if you have a social account enabled.
You may optionally enter your name and handicap index. This is stored locally on your device. If you create a social account, your chosen display name and handicap index are also stored on Stream's servers to power your public profile. You can delete this at any time from Profile β Social β Delete Account.
Your round history, scores, shot positions, club distances, and handicap records are stored entirely on your device. You can export this data as a backup file and delete it permanently from within the app. If you have a social account, a summary of completed rounds (course name, date, score, holes played) is posted to your social feed on Stream's servers. Shot-level GPS data is never included in social posts.
If you choose to create a social account, the following data is transmitted to and stored on Stream's servers (getstream.io):
This data is used solely to provide the social feed feature. It is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for any purpose other than operating the Pudder social feed. You can delete your social account and all associated cloud data from Profile β Social β Delete Account.
When you search for a golf course, Pudder queries OpenStreetMap's Overpass API (via our own proxy) to retrieve publicly available course layout data (hole positions, tees, greens). This request contains no personal information β only the geographic bounding box of the course. Course data is cached on your device to minimise repeat requests.

The Pudder Apple Watch app communicates directly with your iPhone over WatchConnectivity. No data passes through external servers. The Watch app uses a temporary HealthKit workout session solely to maintain GPS accuracy during your round β no health or workout data is written to or read from the Health app.
Pudder contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no crash-reporting services. We do not track you across other apps or websites. The Stream SDK included for optional social features is used solely for feed functionality and is not used for analytics or advertising. Apple's own aggregated App Store metrics may be collected by Apple under their own privacy policy.
Your on-device data is retained until you delete it. Your social account data on Stream's servers is retained until you delete your account. You can delete all data at any time from within the app:
Uninstalling the app removes all on-device data. Social account data on Stream's servers must be deleted separately using the in-app option above.
Pudder is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages for core tracking features. The optional social feature involves creating a public profile and is intended for users aged 13 and over, consistent with Stream's terms of service. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 via the social feature. If you believe a child under 13 has created a social account, contact us at pudderapp@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
Pudder uses the following external services:
For on-device data, all standard data subject rights (access, rectification, portability, erasure) are exercised directly on your device using the deletion features described in Section 6.
For social account data held on Stream's servers, you can request access, correction, or deletion by using the in-app Delete Account option (Profile β Social β Delete Account) or by contacting us at pudderapp@gmail.com. We will process your request within 30 days.
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
